Become Health Conscious

I want to address a very important issue and that is one of being health conscious. There are so many small choices that we make throughout the day that affect our health, that I believe that we have to preplan and make predetermined choices concerning what we eat, how much and how frequently we eat, and how we prepare our food. Being health conscious also includes our choices to take over-the-counter medications when a natural remedy may be more effective and a much healthier alternative. The reason these small choices are so important is that if you make the wrong choices, it can lead to long-term adverse health conditions. If you choose to eat processed foods that are high in sugar, sodium, fat and chemical food additives and then on top of that microwave your food so that you destroy the vitamins and enzymes, your food has very little nutrition and it is no longer life-sustaining. This is the blueprint for high blood sugar which leads to insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and excess belly fat. Your thyroid and adrenals become overstressed resulting in chronic fatigue, brain fog, depression, and lack of sex drive, just to name a few.
The next time you’re about to take an over-the-counter medication, read the list of cautions and warnings, possible side effects, drug interactions, food interactions and overdosage information. If you’re taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds, or NSAIDs for short, these drugs are broken down in the liver and are liver toxic. These drugs address the symptom and not the underlying cause of your health problem. When it comes to my own health, I let my food act as my medicine. I do believe there is a place for medications, but they are far too overused. Chemicals that can cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, stomach gas, loss of appetite, stomach ulcers, G.I. bleeding, hepatitis, gallbladder attacks, painful urination, poor kidney function, kidney inflammation, blood and protein in the urine, dizziness, fainting, nervousness, depression, hallucinations, confusion, disorientation, tingling in the hands or feet, lightheadedness, itching, increased sweating, dry nose and mouth, heart palpitations, chest pain, difficulty breathing, muscle cramps, and in rare cases may cause severe allergic reactions, including closing of the throat, fever and chills, changes in liver function, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), and kidney failure CANNOT be a part of MY personal long-term treatment of ANY ailment.
The bottom line is this when your daily regimen consists of consuming sugary drinks, caffeinated drinks, highly processed foods that are high in sugar, sodium, fat and chemical additives and then you compound that by microwaving it in a plastic container, you poison your body and you deprive it of the nutrients it needs to heal itself. You enter into a state of sickness and because of the conditioning of our society to address our ill health by masking the symptoms with more toxic chemicals, you become more sick and chemically dependent.

Become health conscious. Start eating whole unprocessed foods, buy organic, take the steps instead of the elevator, take advantage of every opportunity to add movement into your day, and drink plenty of water.
